How do family who move overseas protect against malaria?

I just watch a movie about associates that permanantly moved to a tropical location, but it never addressed the problem of Malaria.
One can't pocket the preventive pills forever since that's too toxic, but there isn't a vaccine. What do they do?How do family who move overseas protect against malaria?
I live contained by the Dominican Republic and malaria is a problem over here. I have screen on all of my window and that pretty much keeps the mosquitoes out . Some race use a net over their bed, but that's lone if they don't have screen on the windows.
I don't filch any medication to prevent malaria. It's better to just use preventative measures.
Moving to a tropical country brings indistinguishable malaria risks as the people living here. Obviously all should be done to avoid mosquito bites (like using bed-nets.)
Iv'e never hear of the preventive pills being toxic-may be you can offer sources? It is true that it is becoming more and more resistant.
It is a risc that comes with living at hand.
Sorry,I don't understand the quiz ? The "tropic's" is where most malarial type diseases are found etc.The malarial type infections are different and some are resistant to some of the medication. Before you travel to a country in these area's you should check for traveler risk's.There are prophylactics similar to quinine pills taken while in the country, and some are taken each day or weekly. Not all "tropical" locations are subject to malarial infested mosquito's,similar to you would find in 3rd world and severely poor countries. Take care. SW RNP
