Has anyone have a total thyroidectomy?

My wife has to own a totaly thyroidectomy. Is this a dangerous surgery? Please offer details.Has anyone have a total thyroidectomy?

i have a radioactive iodine therapy instead of surgery for hyperthyroidism ,surgical removal is ok,side effects r mostly hypothyroidism ,and voice spoil if nerve is diluted during surgery ,otherwise its a smooth surgery ,if she gets matching as my option its track easier and effective for me it worked okay .,
